Have you ever heard about Mount. Prau? If you heard that this mountain is one of the best place to watch sunrise and sunset, then you heard it right - all the climbers here are patiently waiting to watch the sun rising or setting. This beautiful mountain located right on the border of Wonosobo and Kendal regency.
I still remember when I arrived to the top of Mount. Prau that day, when I look into the sky the colors changing from pink-orange-ish turning into dark blue for the night, it was so wonderful. In the early morning woke up and watching the sky change from dark velvet ebony into a deep purple as the sun starts to ascend - it is so beautiful, left me speechless and giving me a soothing feeling. When I look into the sky all my pain and stress fly by, my heart literally skip a beat when I see that moment.
A very good friend of mine @Argakacang joined me for this trip. He is one of the kindest/nicest people I have ever met.
To reach this mountain there are several track to reach the top of Mount. Prau:
The shortest from the other three, but the track is quiet steep and only a few "bonuses"
Quiet same with Patak Banteng, so I will recommend you to take Patak Banteng.
Suitable for a beginner, not that steep, but it is the longest track.
Mount Prau is the highest mountain here at Dieng Plateau area, standing at 2.565 meters above sea level - at the top, the temperature could fell into 3 degree Celsius especially during the night, not forget to mention the wind chill adding the cold atmosphere there - so it is mandatory for you to bring your warmest jacket, wind breaker.
What To See
Why the name? it is because the hill is similar to the curve of the hill that the show have - during rainy season the hill will covered with green grass and bush - during wet season, the green grass turning into yellow.
Only in dry season, the grass and bushes transformed into a purple Daisy fields - the purple color were dazzling and the air was hot, but being outside enjoying the sun and flower field is one of my favorite thing :).
Overall: I am awe by the beauty of Mount. Prau, the trek is not that hard but the view from the top was one of the best, I have to admit this place is one of the best place for me to watch sunrise, that golden colors when the sun peek through the horizon, BEST! plus, from the top you can see the twin mountain Mount. Sindoro and Mount. Sumbing standing side by side.
How To Get There
1. Book a plane ticket or train ticket to Semarang
2. Take a bus to Wonosobo
3. Continue to Dieng with mini van.
Ps: I know it is hard for us to wake up in the morning to watch a sunrise, sleeping while camping is a guilty pleasure, but you have to wake up and watch the sun rises over the horizon here - it is so special and beautiful. :D +
it is so perfect for you to spend your weekend with your friends or family :)
